The AACU sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Tuesday urging the committee to incorporate provisions in the No Surprises Act (H.R. 3630) that will ensure urologists receive fair reimbursement for their services.
The letter asked committee members to add an Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process to the bill in order to reduce the number of out-of-network bills while maintaining a fair playing field between physicians and insurers. The letter continues:
“A fair and equitable IDR process, narrowly tailored to resolve payment disputes regarding non-contracted, out-of-network care, will incentivize health plans to make a fair initial offer of payment for out-of-network care rendered to their customers and discourage physician bills that are outside of generally acceptable ranges.”
