On March 21, DC Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6) introduced legislation requiring all insurers in the District to cover one screening for prostate cancer per year free of charge. The District has the highest per capita rate of prostate cancer deaths of any US state and the seventh highest per capita number of new cases. This legislation (and other no-cost prostate cancer screening legislation) is developed in partnership with AACU, AUA, and Zero – The End of Prostate Cancer.
We will provide updates as this legislation moves through the DC Council.
