Policy forum lecturer addresses payment models during annual meeting
May 15, 2017 - Each year at the AUA Annual Meeting, the AACU presents its Charles A. Hoffman Memorial Lecture during the AACU/AUA Health Policy Forum. This lecture is named in honor of AACU co-founder, Charles A. Hoffman, MD, who, along with Russell B. Carson, MD, founded the AACU in 1968, establishing a professional organization for urologists focusing on the socio-economic issues facing urologists, their practices and patients.
At the 2017 AUA meeting in Boston, the AACU was honored to have Rob Mechanic, MBA, present "Medicare Physician Payment Reform: Opportunities and Challenges." Mr. Mechanic is a Senior Fellow at the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and Executive Director of the Health Industry Forum. His research focuses on health care payment systems and he is known for his expertise in bundled payment.
Mr. Mechanic provided valuable information about payment reform initiatives and how new payment models will continue to evolve. Dr. Charles McWilliams, AACU President, presented Mr. Mechanic the Charles A. Hoffman award for his participation.
